Can I use sodium bicarbonate if I have high blood pressure?

Matheus Martins -

That is a controversial subject. We believe, as some research has shown, that it is only sodium chloride that causes blood pressure problems however to be safe its best to keep an eye of blood pressure while taking sodium bicarbonate and stop its use if the blood pressure elevates too much. Short term use to fight off the flu should not be a problem....but long term use demands caution.

I am 71 and want to help with my borderline osteoporosis, but am afraid of using bicarbonate of soda because of high blood pressure. I don't have it if I watch my salt intake. 1 teaspoon would would equal 500mg of sodium. I've been using 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar, 1 cup purified water, squeeze of 1/4 lemon & a dash or two of cayenne before meals which I understand makes me alkaline. Is that a good substitute?
