Is it safe to take Sodium Bicarbonate long term for health maintenance?

Matheus Martins -

While many people seem to have no problems ingesting daily doses of sodium bicarbonate, others do and cautions are given against this. It is better to make lifestyle and dietary changes to become more alkaline so the dependence on sodium bicarbonate is not needed.

Long term use of sodium bicarbonate can cause a folic acid deficiency so you should consider supplementing with folic acid.

You should still check your pH daily to make sure you do not become too alkaline with daily use. If your pH gets over 7.4 you should cut back on the SB use.
